Sycamore  BMX
Bike Track  NOT  to  be  SOLD

1-19-08  -  It  appears  now  that  the  current  BMX  site  will  not  be  sold
and  land  use  will  continue  "as-is"  for  the  BMX  Track.  R.S.R.P.D.  has  stated the
Bike Track  will  not  be  disrupted  due  to  the  "possible"  sale  of  the  property.

UPDATED        APRIL  27, 2009

NOTE:

STILL  NO  ADMITTED  PLANS  TO  SELL
or  relocate  Syc
amore  BMX
Bike Track

AS  OF  1-19-08  -  BMX  site  will  not  be  sold
and  land  use  will  continue  "as-is"  for  the  BMX  Track
per  R.S.R.P.D.

Sycamore  BMX  Bike Track  to  be  SOLD

Mr. Paul  Ireland, Partner, Hogle-Ireland  Consultants reconfirmed at all three (3) recent Neighborhood Meetings (Sept. 12th & 13th 2007) regarding "funding" for the Sinaloa Park project that the Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District plans to sell the property ( approx 4+ acres)  adjacent and immediately "north" of the existing Park District offices located at 1692 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley. The sale of this property to a  known developer showing interest to build residential condominium's would include property currently used by the Sycamore BMX Bicycle Park,  thus  ending  the  current BMX  Track's  25+  years  of  existence.

The  Sycamore BMX Raceway has been operating in Simi Valley at the same location for over 25 years and is enjoyed by riders from 2 years to 68 years old. A true "family" atmosphere can be found at the track, with emphasis on

"keeping kids clean in the dirt"  and maintaining a safe, healthy, non-alcohol, drug-free environment. Riders come from as far as 90 miles on a regular basis who claim the Simi Track is one of the best around within a 125 mile radius.

Park District officials rumor to relocate the BMX Track,  but the question is "when" . . . and what guarantees would be in place ? It would truly be a "crime" to eliminate this beloved track prior to having a new track completely reconstructed and ready-for-use at an alternate site. Costs for relocation could far exceed 1 million dollars, and chances are it would NOT be nearly as centrally located within the City of Simi Valley.
