We are very opposed to the proposed Park Project. The project seems ill-conceived with regard to the best use of the land. We are concerned about traffic, noise and crime problems.

I am very opposed to this project. I heard there is an estimate that it will take a projected 20 years to break even on this project. This is a big concern to me. Why should I believe the county government be able to make this sort of amusement park profitable and safe, when professionals such as Six Flags Magic Mountain cannot do so? Another, more important concern is the historic Sinaloa Lake, that is adjacent to the proposed water park. This is fragile habitat for many native plants and animals, and there are no provisions in the plan to protect the lake from trespassing, vandalism, and pollution. It is also unacceptable to fund this project by shutting down and selling other Simi Valley parks. The very idea of taking away free outdoor exercise facilities for a paid mini-amusement park seems contrary to the purpose of having public parks. I think a plain old, simple park, with tennis and basketball courts, bathrooms, and picnic tables would be wonderful. It will be way less money, way less environmental impact, and no other parks will need to be sold off to build it.

To Whom it may Concern, if it is true that the Simi Valley Sycamore BMX track is to be moved or possibly just removed from the city it would be a complete tragedy. The Sycamore BMX track has been a stable positive environment for kids of all ages for many years and has helped them enjoy friendship, comradre and assisted in learning the life lessons of "the work you put in is what you will achieve" that will not only help them on the BMX track, but in all facets of thier life, school, family, career. This icon of BMX, must be able to remain in it's current location and allow many future generations of Simi residents to enjoy the same fun and life lessons that this BMX track has given to so many. If there is anything we can do to further help with keeping the Sycamore BMX track alive and open please call at any time. Bill Ryan Supercross BMX 760-240-5266 bill@supercrossbmx.com

The area and the surrounding home owners will not benefit from the noise, traffic and petty crime that a mini-amusement park will bring. I think you need to look long and hard about what the true purpose of your district is. Please do not deprive the area youth and their families of their BMX track. BMX is an Olympic sport for crying out loud! You canâ??t say that about miniature golf. Please make the right decision and keep BMX in your park plans now and in the future.

Opposed (however), in speaking with Colleen Jansen of the parks district, I learned that they would relocate the BMX tract to another location. My family and I live on Vista Lago Dr. and are opposed to the project for the same reasons echoed throughout. We too would very much like to see the existing facilities enhanced as an alternative medium. Frankly though, I thought the heated verbal onslaught that the presenters endured was not theirs to bear. They were hired to design a project and would like to see it succeed I have no doubt. Most people want to see success in the things they do, but that does not make them the enemy in this situation. Like the Caltrans workers or big rig drivers, sometimes you want to attack them but they are just doing their jobs. I wouldn't have stood there and endured that for any of my clients. Who'd have thought that designing parks would create enemies? The city and the park district are the one to address if we hope to be taken seriously and make a difference. I hope to see that same heat and passion at the City Counsel Meetings.

OPPOSED!!!!Shame on the Simi Valley Parks District to consider such a project that would intrude with the safety and well being of the children and teenagers here in Simi Valley. There is no other place in Simi Valley where family and kids can go and participate in an active healty lifestyle such as Sycamore BMX. It sadens me to think that you would take such a positve atmosphere away from the community and residents of Simi Valley. Sycamore BMX is a non violent, no drug, no alcohol establishment that provides a safe healthyplace for our children and keeps them of the streets. The value of what our children learn at Sycamore BMX could never be replaced.

Opposed! I will regret the day I have to tell my son who has been training and racing with his team at the Sycamore BMX track that he no longer can do the sport he has invested his life in. He has been required to participate in community charity, good grade program, fundraisers just to name a few to be able to be on the race team and travel out of state to race. This track is the "home track" to many who rank high in the world of BMX as well as kids just starting out in BMX. The track supports other riders from several surrounding cities.

As a mother of 4 children, 3 of which enjoy the BMX Sport, I OPPOSE. My children look forward to riding the Sycamore Track everyday and are eager to get there. We have met friends and enjoy the safe family atmosphere the track offers. Our youth are enriched through this sport and all it offers and they admire the adults who streamline the track side by side with them. We do not need another getaway in the middle of our quiet community. Southern Ca is known for its attractions throughout the area, the need is not there, the need is apparent and that is to improve the family fun venues and expand on current activities the community has to offer. One of the reasons my husband and I chose this area, was that is was away from the hustle and bustle of the city and a community proven by its safety record and family friendly...a good place to raise children with much to offer. I am desperately asking; please do not shut down the track. As a professional in the building industry...I know that the improvement and expansion on the already Silaloa Park area can be redefined at a fraction of the cost at no compromise to Simi Valley or their surrounding community neighbors. On a lighter note, as I have traveled with my children rooting for them at the many events the ABA has offered, Sycamore BMX of Simi Valley is recognized nationwide and individuals travel from afar to ride and train at our track, our "Home Away From Home". This track has mapped Simi Valley and Sycamore BMX is known for some of the BEST riders in the nation. Simi Valley should be proud of the individuals who represent this small community and pride on what it has to offer our youth, our countries livelihood. Also, as a recent addition to the Olympic Sports; one day Simi Valley, CA, may represent the United States and be known worldwide for its enrichment and development of our youth and their families. Please reconsider and revamp your plan for tranquil destruction.

Our family opposes this proposal for the following reasons: 1. Noise pollution 2. Proximity to wetlands and migrating birds. 3. Reduction of property values 4. Increased crime, vandalism, and tresspassing 5. Increased traffic congestion. 6. Not the right place in the middle of a residential neighborhood 7. Just to name a few reasons. Our family opposes the Sinaloa Park Project! Our quiet residential area is not the venue for this type of recreation. There are many other locations on the perimeter of Simi Valley and away from residential living that can host a park project of this size that does not intrude or interfere with satisfying residential community living. This project will be detrimental to this community's safety and well being. We can not lose the Sycamore BMX track, it provides excersize and supervision for people of all ages. It is a positive outlet for the community members to get invloved in giving back to the community as well as develop a love for BMX riding. I am so dissapointed that an arcade is part of this proposed project. I would have liked to seen something that promoted physical fitness, to improve self esteem as well as discourage loitering, which eventually will lead to crime and distruction! Is the city council listening?
